ENTRIES in the pig section were up by 50 per cent this year, with good quality stock on show.

Deborah Custance-Baker, the pig secretary, said: 'Yet again we have a very high standard and there have been entries from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.

'There were 65 entries in the pig section this year, which represents a healthy 50 per cent increase from last year's show.'

Among the breeds were Berkshires, British Lops and Saddlebacks, Large Blacks and Large Whites, Gloucester Old Spots and quite a number of Kune Kunes - including a number of piglets.

Travelling all the way from Taunton were the Sully family with their Quantock Herd of Kune-Kunes. Dad Chris, mum Katie with son William, 12, and Hollie, 9, came away with a number of firsts, including best sow in class and first in the July class.
