TWO ?absolute treasures? were last week rewarded for their hard work at Hatherleigh Primary School by employers Devon Direct Services.

Caretaker and cleaner Dawn Stevens and Josie Westlake were given the champagne and chocolates award for work which ?stood out from their colleagues?.

Devon Direct Services said they were exemplary members of staff who did ?outstanding work? at the school.

Dawn has only been at Hatherleigh Primary for a year, but Josie is a long-standing member of staff who joined the school in 1977 and has been a cook, caretaker and cleaner.

A spokesman for Devon Direct Services said: ?The pair have set themselves a high standard and the pride they have in the school is clearly reflected in their work.?

Headteacher Linda Mitchell said: ?They do a fantastic job and never complain, no matter how grim the task! They?re wonderful, absolute treasures.

?Josie was actually interviewed by the school council last week and asked about the ups and downs of cleaning. She was asked what they could do to help and she was really good.?

Mrs Mitchell said Josie also helps children at the school with their art and craft work.

?She?s very talented,? said Mrs Mitchell.
