AN evening of piano duets can be enjoyed next Wednesday (February 23) at Kelly College. Helen and Harvey Davies are a mother and son duo, who have worked together since 1992. They are now among Britain?s finest exponents of piano duet repertoire. Individually, Helen and Harvey have busy careers. Helen specialises in accompaniment and chamber music and is also a piano teacher. She plays regularly at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and has given recitals with many leading violists. Harvey works with winners of the BBC Young Musician Competition and is also an accompanist and adjudicator at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. As a duo Helen and Harvey have toured extensively and have a large repertoire. They have recorded several CDs, most recently ?Four Hand Favourites?. Many contemporary composers have written for them. The programme will include Schubert?s Variations in A flat Op 35, Mendelssohn?s ?Songs Without Words? Op 62 and the sonata Op 43 by Andrew Wilson, director of music at Kelly College. Dvorak?s ?Legends? and Ravel?s ?Mother Goose Suite? also feature in what promises to be an outstanding evening of piano music. The recital begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18 year olds, accompanied by a ticket holder, are admitted free. The event is part of Kelly College Concert Society?s current season of concerts.
