Ordulph Arms 3

THE Ordulph Arms may look back to this game at the end of the season and see it as three vital points in their pursuit for promotion and the title.

The match finished in dramatic fashion as James Phillpotts scored a wonder goal in the closing minutes to steal all the points, when it appeared at one stage that the visitors were going to leave with none at all.

Ordulph started poorly and the home side created many chances, and deservedly went ahead with a good finish from close range. The visitors were lucky not to go further behind as their goalkeeper Sean Moloney was forced into making several good stops.

However, Ordulph levelled just before half time when Jack Payne's bicycle kick found James Coole who set up Seb Krotke to calmly finish the move.

The second half started poorly for Ordulph as they went 2-1 down after a scrappy goal from a corner. They had a great chance to equalise as Rob Moloney was fouled in the box; however Ben Stephens saw his penalty saved. But the visitors got a break when Ben Stephens' corner flew straight into the net to level.

Ordulph continued to press and it looked as if the game was going to end up as a draw, until they were awarded a free kick in the 88th minute. Ben Stephens laid the ball off to James Phillpotts who unleashed a stunning left foot strike from 35 yards giving the keeper no chance. Ordulph had to compose themselves for the final few minutes but managed to see out the match for a great win.
