Truro C 0

BOTH sides met for a late afternoon pushback on Saturday and a fast pace was set from the beginning.

Some early attacking put a lot of pressure on Truro's defence. This earned Tavistock a couple of short corners, the second of which was put away through a well placed shot from Phil Edwards, struck hard and low into the bottom left hand corner.

Tavistock did not sit back and continued to dominate the game, keeping possession. Phil Edwards got his second through a great run of play, giving Tavistock a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half.

Truro responded better after the break, but Tavistock's defence kept them at bay, leaving the opposition disgruntled and frustrated.

The home side began to settle and some great link up play started to take shape between every single player.

With Tavistock controlling the pace and tempo a third goal was inevitable. Scoring his first league goal for Tavistock, Will Leach struck the ball decisively into the opposition's goal, leaving the keeper with no chance.

With the win secured, Tavistock owned game through short passes and simple hockey. This was a well deserved win from an ever improving squad.

Marjons E 2

Tavistock B 1

THIS result suggested that the happy days are over for the West Devon side.

The Marjons side had conceded 35 goals in four games, so it was an expectant Tavistock team that travelled to meet a young Marjons side.

Both teams started well enough, but as the game progressed the home team started to slowly take control with some accurate passing, skilful individual play and thoughtful positioning.

This led to Tavistock often being caught out of position and with the resultant pressure mounting before half time the first goal was conceded with a jubulant Marjons team going into the break 1-0 up.

The visitors managed to pull one back early on in the second half but were unable to secure the second.

Indeed it was Marjons who scored the next and secured the win — their first of the season.
