A WEBSITE in a weekend is the promise behind a new computer course being run in Devon for the first time next month. Peter Preston, of Folly Gate, a tutor at Okehampton Community College says the course he is running will enable an experienced computer user to learn to build a website in just two days. The course is run on two consecutive Saturdays and has previously run in Camelford and Bodmin. Peter?s book Easy Web Pages is used as the basis for two courses. The two-day website building course is being provided at Okehampton Community College on Saturday, October 7 and Saturday, October 14. For less experienced users, Peter is also running a ten week course, which begins on Thursday, September 28, between 2pm and 4pm. The course is entitled Easy Web Pages For Small Businesses and Organisations. Peter said; ?The two day course is aimed at adults who have some experience in computing but no experience of creating web pages. The course will teach students how to create a simple multi-page web site. In fact the first two web pages are created in the first hour. Then they are refined and added to by adding links, colours, images and changing fonts.? For the ten week course, students need have little knowledge apart from the layout of the keyboard.
