A FORMER student of Okehampton College recently received his Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award with the Okehampton Open Group.
Peter Cooper was presented with his award by the Duke of Edinburgh at St James' Palace.
The gold award comprises five sections: voluntary service, sports, skills, residential and expedition.
Peter completed these sections in a number of ways, including playing cricket for Lewdown Cricket Club and learning how to play table tennis.
Speaking after the presentation of his award, Peter said: 'Gaining the Duke of Edinburgh award will stand me in good stead for the future through the vital life skills I have gained.
'I would like to thank Mr Wilson and Mr Blowey from Okehampton College and Chris Bourne for all their help.'
