TAVISTOCK Swimming Club squad were in action recently at Frome in the third round of the Western Speedo League, division 2.
Although coming fourth behind Frome, Weymouth and Paignton, there were many personal best times recorded by the swimmers and a good number of first places.
Squad members were Philippa Smith, Richard Freedman, Marc Kerwill, Alice Warnett, Ross Mallin, Amy Warnett, Michael Best, Sebastian Lee, Lisa Butler, Kirsty Best, Jake Broome, Caroline Ball, Sam Broome, Holly Chinn, William Crocker, Alison Kelly, Ross Williams, Freddy Luesby, Rosie Yull, Rachael Kelly, Megan Fell, Jason Butler.
Amy Warnett got Tavistock's first individual win in the 13/u 50m breast, closely followed by girls' captain Philippa Smith in the 15/u 100m back and Lisa Butler in the open 100m fly. Caroline Ball took first in the 13/u 50m back and Rosie Yull in the 15/u 100m free. Boys' captain Richard Freedman followed Rosie's win with a first in the 15/u 100m free. The boys' open 4x2 medley relay team were also first to touch as were the Girls' 15/u 4x2 medley relay team in an exciting finish.
