ASPIRING writers with an interest in making the past come alive through historical fiction are invited to a workshop taking place in Okehampton next week.
A one-day historical fiction creative writing workshop is being run at Okehampton Adult Community Learning on Saturday, May 1. It will run from 10am to 4pm with regular breaks.
The workshop facilitator is a regular reviewer for the Historical Novel Society and has had numerous short stories and articles published. The workshop will help people to learn how to write a plot, characters, and build descriptions suitable for a historical short story or novel.
Okehampton could be the setting for a story, as the day will focus on Edwardian Okehampton and will be based on a series of activities inside and outside. Pens, notebooks and umbrellas are recommended, but the most important thing is to bring imagination.
It does not matter if you have already written before or this is your first attempt, everyone is welcome to come along and find out more.
