AN INCREDIBLE effort was made this month by AN incredible effort was made this month by former Tavistock student and keen cyclist Brenda Boston, when she successfully cycled the 936 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End for charity.

Brenda took time off work to complete the cycle in just 15 days, and still found the time to cycle three of the largest mountains in Britain!

The 46-year-old already had experience of cycling long distances having already travelled around Europe, but her dream was to cycle the length of Britain in the beautiful countryside it has to offer.

Brenda left her home on July 30 accompanied by her sister, Jenny, who drove alongside her the whole way and provided much needed moral support.

The cycle started from John O' Groats on August 1 and within a few days Brenda had unbelievably found herself ahead of her schedule and decided to increase the distance of her journey in order to climb Ben Nevis — another aspiration of hers.

Brenda, having scaled the mountain, then decided to add more days to her journey and climb Scafell Pike and Mt Snowdon as well.

The tremendous cycle across Britain, including three of the largest peaks it has to offer, was all achieved in the name of Starlight Children's Foundation, a charity Brenda and her sister are both closely involved with.

Starlight works with seriously or terminally ill children to turn their greatest wishes into a reality.

Brenda said there was no better way than to fulfil your own wish while raising money to help grant other's too.

Brenda's efforts for the charity has resulted in £2,500 being raised so far.
