TWO members of Okehampton?s Inspiration Church are to tackle Great Britain?s highest peak for charity. Mike Davies and Chris Bourne will be tackling Ben Nevis in September, along with Laura Alm from the Gilead Foundation, to raise funds for the ?Cross Rhythms? Christian media charity. Cross Rhythms began in 1983 as a half-hour radio show on Plymouth Sound ILR, broadcasting music with a Christian message. In 1998, it launched a full-time radio station on Sky Digital Satellite, then in 2001 was awarded an FM licence to broadcast across Stoke-on-Trent as a local community radio station ? the first full-time Christian FM station in Great Britain. Earlier this year, another full-time FM station was launched in Plymouth. The three climbers from the Okehampton area will be raising money which will help to establish other Cross Rhythms stations across Britain, and to set up a training academy which will train young people to run those stations, They will be joining 15 other climbers and hope to broadcast live from the summit of Ben Nevis on September 15. Anybody interested in sponsoring the three may bring a cheque to The Inspiration Centre in Crediton Road, Okehampton, or sponsor them online at http://www.justgiving.com/chrisbourne">www.justgiving.com/chrisbourne.
