MILTON Abbot pupil Shaun Hill holds a peace candle in front of a model of the stained glass window that fell foul of West Devon councillors.

The colourful work of art, specially made by a Benedectine monk, is to symbolise world peace ? but the council?s planning committee said it would be ?detrimental to the character? of the listed building.

The decision sparked anger. Now an appeal against the refusal is being considered.
