Okehampton Argyle 2

Central AFC 5

THE Argyle defence held firm for 20 minutes until a midfield mix up allowed a pass to Vincent, who smacked the ball first time past Darren Moore.

Okehampton looked like collapsing, as they conceded two more. Though they were playing a better passing game, the home side were susceptible to Central's long balls through the middle.

Okehampton then found themselves within sight of Central with Phil Evans scoring twice. The first came about through Hanbury, who forced a defender off the ball and passed across goal, allowing Evans a simple tap-in. The second was a result of Argyle doing what they do best in passing and moving, a four-man move setting Evans up to fire home his second.

The second half found the team more comfortably matched and it looked as if Okehampton were to be frustrated in their search for an equaliser, with Central unable to score more — that is until Vincent banged in a fourth and Williams was cruelly adjudged to have tripped an attacker in the box. Vincent completed his nap hand from the spot.

Argyle were to continue to run into a packed defence and though Evans and Drew did well with their crosses, their colleagues were to be denied in the penalty area.

Chris Wills and Rhys Morgan deservedly shared the ref's man of the match vote.

Okehampton Argyle 0

Pinhoe Spartans 2

THERE would not be enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe the performance of the home side as they went out to prove the result, last month, was one off in Pinhoe's favour. Their manager asked for passion, commitment and pride and these are what they gave, with more besides.

Okehampton's keeper, John Carter, and his back four, Stepto, Wills, Williams and Darren Moore, played like gods and gradually reduced their visitors to long range efforts, with crunching tackles and a superbly marshalled offside trap.

Even when the Spartans did break through, Carter was quick to gather the loose ball or bravely blocked the incoming forward.

The midfield blend of Evans, Coleman, Sercombe and Drew were not by-passed once.

Pinhoe finally broke the deadlock, after 25 minutes, when a forward was allowed to slip the net and score.

Moys replaced Coleman at half-time, the latter having run his socks off against lads twice his size but with half his spirit. Once Moys had settled, his strength served to counter Pinhoe's midfield and he found time to send in a couple of shots on goal.

Okehampton's best chances fell to Evans and Banbury, the latter forcing a good save, but it was the visitors who were to stretch their advantage, by scoring again 20 minutes from time.

This week home to Seaton Town, kick-off 10.30am, players to meet at 9.45.
