A HOLIDAY park in West Devon is celebrating after scooping a prestigious regional award.
Woodovis Park, near Gulworthy, has been named 'Holiday Park of the Year' in the awards scheme celebrating the 'Best in the South West', which aims to promote and reward leading businesses and individuals in the tourism industry.
John and Dorothy Lewis and the rest of the team at Woodovis said they were 'absolutely overwhelmed at the news'.
The award comes on the back of Woodovis Park being voted fifth best park in the UK by the readers of Practical Caravan Magazine earlier in the year.
John and Dorothy said: 'Without a doubt this is the pinnacle of our achievements to date and is a reflection of the quality of our park and most importantly, the outstanding contribution that our staff always make by going that extra mile for our guests.
'This award is not only good for our business but the local community as a whole, hopefully bringing more visitors into the Tavistock and surrounding area.'
The award will be presented on November 23 by Gill Williams, travel editor of the Sunday Mirror.
Winners have had to prove their worth in a number of areas including demonstrating outstanding levels of customer service, exemplary facilities and a commitment to sustainability, along with caring for the environment and accessibility to all.
The regional winners will be put forward for VisitEngland's National Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010, where a seven South West businesses received nationwide recognition in April 2009, making the South West the overall winning region.
Alistair Handyside, chairman of South West Tourism said: 'These businesses have shown that customer care, staff training and continued investment have not faltered but have grown and they are committed to exceeding visitor expectations.'
