GULWORTHY is getting ready to repeat the success of its Millennium country festival next month.

The festival will be held on August 2, at the same site off the B3257 between Gulworthy Cross and Rock Cross, from 11am until 5pm.

This time the country festival, in aid of Gulworthy Church Restoration Fund, will have a much bigger programme of events, including five-a-side football, tug-of-war, ferret racing and a hobby horse gymkhana, with many stalls and refreshments also available.

Competitions will be taking place, including fancy dress to be judged at 12.30pm and best picture of a favourite farm yard item. All entries for this competition will be displayed at the Festival and must be no larger than A4 and be registered by 11.30am with name, age and address on the back.

A best dressed scarecrow contest, with three age groups, U5s, 5-10 year-olds and over 10s, will also be judged at the festival.

Organisers are still welcoming any ideas to add to the entertainment already planned for this fun, community-based day out. Entry costs£3 per car and passengers or £1 per person. For information please call Sally Jowett on 01822 833094.
