THE annual camp of the Oxfordshire (The Rifles) Battalion Army Cadet Force at Okehampton Camp welcomed a special visitor recently.
Town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies visited the camp, which welcomed its visitors from Oxfordshire from August 11 to August 25.
Greeted by honorary Colonel Brigadier Draper and commandant Col Carson, other guests included the chair of Oxfordshire County Council, and the mayors of Didcott and Wallingford.
The guests observed cadets being trained in first aid, weapon handling, map and compass use, basha building and watching an adult initial training course.
Cllr the Rev Davies joined the officers and guests for lunch, and was the only guest from outside Oxfordshire.
Each year the cadet force from Oxfordshire visits Okehampton Camp to learn new skills and make new friends as part of a fortnight of activities. This year the programme includedtactical field exercises, range days, and sports and outward bound activities.
