Ivybridge U15s 45 Tavistock U15s 0 IVYBRIDGE won this cup match at a canter, scoring seven tries to Tavistock?s zero. Ivybridge?s measured passing and off the ball support play gave them many options in the backs which they often used to good effect. There were one or two notable performances from Tavistock players. Mark Kerswill as always led by example, always looking to take the ball on at the breakdown to try and find a way through the Ivybridge line. Mark Webber was magnificent in defence tackling resolutely anything in front of him. Man of the match for Tavistock was Jack Hodges for his winning of turnover ball in loose play, particularly in the first half, tackling and support play. James Shaw also had a good performance tackling well, signalling in rucks and for some direct running. Overall though Tavistock were a little disappointed that they seemed overawed by the reputation of the opposition which seemed to put them off playing their normal game. Numbers permitting Tavistock have another opportunity to play a friendly on Sunday against Ivybridge at Sandy Park.
