Ivybridge U11s 12
Tavistock U11s 19
TAVISTOCK Rugby Club's U11s went up to the Christmas break maintaining their 18-month unbeaten run and were severely stretched by a skilful Ivybridge side.
The Tavistock forwards dominated and looked to be creating plenty of opportunities for the backs to run the ball.
Against the run of play Ivybridge scored their first try after uncharacteristically sloppy
defending.
Ivybridge continued to pressurise the defence and after a high tackle, Tavistock had a penalty try harshly awarded against them, which was not converted.
Coach Pete Hayes' half time talk revitalised the Tavistock side and they came out all guns blazing in the second half.
With constant pressure by the forwards of Pickard, Ewings and Hayes and brave running of Huntingdon-Whitely and Lawson it was inevitable the try would come, via scrum half Williams.
The physical approach by Tavistock began to rattle the home side and another try was justly scored by Pickard and converted by Honey.
With the score level and Tavistock's confidence high, the ball was run from all angles by Newton, Friend, Barrow and Frappell.
Another steady game at the back by the ever improving Campbell and a composed kicking performance by fly-half Honey gained vital territory to allow Tavistock to dominate and finally score their third try through captain Williams, converted by Honey.
