WEST Devon is one of the best places to live in England and it?s the best area in Devon, say local residents. In a survey carried out on behalf of the Government last year, 90% of residents said they were satisfied with West Devon as a place to live. Of 238 district local authorities West Devon ranks second alongside Winchester, Harrogate, South Norfolk and Suffolk Coastal. Only Broadland in Norfolk has more satisfied residents with 91%. The survey of 2,500 West Devon households was carried out in late 2006. Cllr James McInnes, Leader of the borough council, said: ?We?re delighted but not surprised with the results. After all, West Devon is one of the most beautiful areas in the country. ?The council aims to work even harder to ensure that everyone in West Devon enjoys a good quality of life whether they live, work or visit our borough.?
