OKEHAMPTON Running Club members had a successful day at the Bideford AAC's 10 mile race taking home nine trophies between them.

Abby Metherell, Lora Medland and Cathy Carey won the ladies team prize, Jo Camies, Liz Ash and Marilyn Cooper won the veteran ladies team trophy and Jane Jones, Ali Holliday and Katy Speak were the third veteran ladies team.

Marilyn Cooper took first place in the FV55 category, Jo Camies came second in the female veteran 40 and Liz Ash was third in the female veteran 35. The ORCs also raised the loudest cheers during the prizegiving!

Conditions were damp as runners set off along Bideford Quay, along the sea front through Instow and on to Yelland joining the Tarka trail beside the estuary where there was a stiff wind blowing for the second half of the race.

The first ORC member over the line was Detlef Schoefield with a great performance in his first ever race.
