EIGHTEEN Okehampton Running Club members embarked on the South West Road Runner's Drogo 10 off road race. Runners lined up outside the National Trust's Castle Drogo on a beautifully sunny and mild November morning. The route plunged down to the stunning Teign Valley down steep, narrow tracks. After crossing the footbridge and climbing a stile it was time for runners to get their feet wet! The deep mud and steep ups and downs challenged the brave 495 runners who entered. The stunning course finished outside the castle after climbing the notorious Hunter's path.

n EIGHT members of Tavistock Athletic Club also competed in the Drogo 10. First club runner home was Nicole Heryet, with tri-athletes Liz Vernon and Lindsay Hobbs not too far behind her. John Windemer and Sheila Houghton completed the course in under two hours, whilst Lesley Cowie, Jackie Ralph and Ann Woodhouse finished strongly, the latter coming third in her age group, to complete the TAC team line-up.

On the same day, Peter Bazley tackled the hilly and testing Cornish Marathon at Pensilva, finishing fourth in his M55 age-group, in 4.01.11.

Travelling further afield, Martin Exley and Becca Deane raced in the Brooks Brighton 10k, Martin finishing in 37mins 20seconds, coming fourth in his age group, and Becca in 40.28, eighth in hers.

Richard Drage was a lone TAC entrant in the multi-terrain Seaton Valley 5, but excelled by winning the race!
