THE Volunteer Centre in Okehampton have many new opportunities for those looking to volunteer. l The Joliba Trust supports grassroots development in marginal areas of Mali. Particular focus is on projects to help women and on environmental work for long-term food security. Would you like to use your skills in administration to help the trust or do you have knowledge of French which could be used to help translate the Mali project expenditure literature? l Would you like to get out in the countryside and improve the environment as well? The voluntary organisation STOC works to help to keep the environment in the Okehampton area clean and tidy. There is a full programme for the summer and work is carried out on Fridays. Why not join in for a day to see if you like it? l The Caudwell Charity makes a difference to children?s lives with treatment, therapy, specialist equipment or dying wish holidays. They currently need volunteers for various roles with the organisation, including application needs assessor, volunteer leaders and an area co-ordinator. l Trustees are always needed by a variety of voluntary and community groups throughout the district, they cannot exist without them. If you have skills or experience, such as administration, financial or business, that you feel would be beneficial to an organisation then please get in touch.
