AUDITIONS for the Tavonians Theatre Company's second radio play are set to take place next week.
The cast is quite small but there are opportunities for people of all ages, including two important roles for children — or for anyone who might sound like a child.
The Tavonians' Stonesthrow Soundplays is a series of short plays which may be broadcast on local radio, hospital radio or be available on the internet and all plays in the series have a strong local connection.
'Kiddo and the Gooseberry Bush', written by local author Jayne Newton Chance, is set in Luckett in East Cornwall and based around the true account of a young evacuee in World War 2 arriving at Luckett Station with no identification.
Director Ali Fife Cook said: 'It is an intriguing story which Jayne has woven into a brilliant and cleverly crafted play, touching on secrets and sadness.
'Radio plays give an unusual opportunity for those who like theatre but who are not so keen to be on stage or to learn lines, although conveying characters and meaning by sound alone requires real skill and the use of special techniques.'
Information about the characters is available on The Tavonians' website, http://www.tavonians.org.uk">www.tavonians.org.uk and follow the link to Newsletters and the recent News Bulletin.
Auditions are in the Taylor Room at The Wharf on Wednesday, April 15 at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in auditioning but not available that evening should contact Ali Fife Cook, [email protected]">[email protected]
