THE beautiful gardens belonging to David and Jenny Miles of Crapstone will once again be open to the public this summer, to raise funds for the Children?s Hospice South West.
Lark Rise will be open from 11am until 5pm on Sunday June 15. There will be plants available to buy and teas will be provided across the road from the gardens at the Village Hairdresser, courtesy of Lynda King.
Parking is available at Buckland cricket field, thanks to the generosity of Buckland Cricket Club.
Admission to the gardens is £1.50 for adults, 50p for children ? but sorry, no dogs.
Another fundraising event for the hospice will be held at Tavistock College on June 25, when the choirs of St Joseph?s School at Launceston and Tavistock College will take part in a choral evening. Admission is free, but there will be a retiring collection. The concert begins at 7.30pm.
Linda Downing, of the Buckland Monachorum Area Friends of Children?s Hospice South West group, paid tribute to the generosity of the community which has been so supportive of the hospice.
She said: ?We?ve just passed the £100,000 mark in our fundraising. We had a major sale recently and that just put us over that mark.
?The community has opened their hearts and their purses to us really. When we reached our first thousand I thought ?well I never?, I never thought we?d get to where we are now, so it?s brilliant.?
