Bodmin Trophies Duchy League division 2

Tywardreath Albion 1

Mary Tavy 2

THE venue may have been below Par but the game definitely was anything but, as Tavy defeated a high flying Tywardreath at the racetrack ground.

Plenty of opportunities, misses and hearty challenges went to make this a truly competitive venture. It was irony at its worst as the only injury came as a result of two team-mates colliding and Tavy?s Lee Webber, who at the time was probably their best player, having to leave the field.

Dan Brockington broke the deadlock, pouncing on a loose ball after an effort by Stephens and gleefully added another to his growing tally for the season.

The home side opened the second half the more lively, but with Lee Bartlett challenging everything in the centre it was Tavy who doubled their lead.

Reeves whipped in a dangerous cross and young Ben Stephens launched himself through the air for an unstoppable diving header.

Tywardreath did pull one back from an acute angle but Tavy can forgive Tony Rawlings for that as he made up for his error with another solid display of goalkeeping.
