TAVISTOCK Tennis Club completed a full programme of matches in the league last week which was a good one overall for both seniors and juniors with only one defeat.
The juniors? first team were outstanding and the ladies? C team and men? D team had resounding wins.
Results for week 7 ? Seniors: Men?s A team drew 4-4 away against Plymstock A which hinged on one close 5-7 set. Ray Hinton/Sean Jefferson v their 1st pair; 3-6, 4-6: v 2nd pair; 6-4, 6-2. Simon Thomas/Eirian Jones v their 1st pair; 5-7, 3-6: v 2nd pair; 6-4, 6-2.
B team lost 3-7 at home against Yelverton A. Owen Locker/Jonathan Stephens v their 1st pair; 6-0, 3-6, 2-6: v 2nd pair; 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. Bernard Mowle/John Jackson v their 1st pair; 1-6, 2-6: v 2nd pair; 2-6, 4-6.
C team won 7-2 at home against Torpoint A. Damian Heard/Terry Lanchbery, playing in his first match, v their 1st pair; 3-6, 6-2, 4-6: v 2nd pair; 6-3, 6-2. Peter Rodgers/Rick Read v their 1st pair; 7-6, 6-3: v 2nd pair; 6-0, 7-5.

C team won 8-1 away against Devonshire C. Sue Whitman/Anne Bruce v their 1st pair; 6-4, 6-4: v 2nd pair; 6-3, 6-2. Barbara Watson/Babette Jackson v their 1st pair 4-6, 6-4, 6-3: v 2nd pair; 6-4, 6-3.
Juniors? first team won 54-23 at home against St Budeaux, a good
result for the club, winning all sets. Russell Rice v their 1st player; 6-2, 6-4. James Martin/Ashley Rice v their 1st pair; 6-4, 6-1. James v their 2nd player; 6-2, 6-3. Russell/Ashley v their 2nd pair; 6-1, 7-6.
Friendly matches: Away against North Wyke, MXD only, with the club leading 4-3 it was unfortunate the last set could not be completed due to rain. Team; Fleur Marshall, playing in her first match,/Steve Fletcher and Josie Gerhold/John Burgess.
At home against St Budeaux won 8-4, played on the basis of MXD, MD and LD.
Team: Alison Summers/David Isaac and Claire/Damian Heard. The cub annual tournaments are now well under way with a good entry including some new members. Finals day is planned for Saturday, July 12.
