Tavistock seconds 61
Bude seconds 5
BUDE opened the scoring with a try after 10 minutes, when a large hole appeared in the centre of the Tavistock defence. However, from then on, the home team steadily gained the upper hand and tries were scored at regular intervals.
Lock Darren Sutton scored the first for Tavistock; number eight, Will Tomkins the next; flanker Tom Charlesworth finished off a good drive from the forwards and winger Ben Neale finished off a backs' move. A conversion from Rob Milligan made it 22-5 at half-time.
Three minutes into the second half and scrumhalf Lee Greatrex was on hand to take a scoring pass after a good run from Tomkins. Milligan converted but had to leave the field soon after, with a dislocated shoulder.
Bude defended well for the next 20 minutes, but then the floodgates opened and Tavistock ran in a further six tries in the final 17 minutes.
Centre Nick Lane profited from a good tackle and turnover from winger Charlie Harvey; Lane pounced again shortly after; this was followed by lock Simon Parisio running in from 50 metres.
Replacement fullback John Hall was next on the scoresheet. Charlie Harvey scored and finally, a rare try from hooker Dave Welsh after good pressure from replacement lock Matt Smith.
Flyhalf Jake Luffman managed one further conversion, to bring the final score to 61 -5.
Tavistock played much more of a running game and all the threequarters enjoyed seeing plenty of the ball. Centres Nick Lane and Jon Bellamy made numerous good runs and Colts flyhalf Jake Luffman and flanker Dale Thompson had solid games.
Jason Ward made a welcome return at prop, after a long injury layoff.
