Devon 1 Teignmouth 5 Okehampton 5 ON a poor pitch, with a later kick off than expected, Okehampton failed to find top gear and could only manage a draw, dropping a vital point against an under achieving Teignmouth side. Okehampton started well with early pressure being turned into points when Arnie Searle crashed his way through the Teignmouth defence out wide. The Okehampton pack never got the better of the strong, experience Teignmouth forwards, playing in front of a massive home crowd who urged them on even more. In the second half Okehampton?s defensive resolve was put to the test with continuous pressure from the opposition. With Okehampton looking to stunt the Teinmouth attack, Ali Mason and Harry Bushin found themselves in the sin bin for slowing the play illegally. Teignmouth were awarded a scrum five metres from the Okehampton line and managed to force the seven-man Okehampton pack over the line to even the scores. Okehampton claimed the official for the day failed to realise a knock-on before the ball was touched down and that Teignmouth had added to their pack, pitting nine men against Okehampton?s seven. But with all the pressure Teignmouth had applied they deserved the score. Luckily for Okehampton the scores remained level and they came away with a point that sees them stay two points clear at the top of Devon 1. This week Okehampton are home and entertain OPOs in the semi-final of the Devon Junior Cup. Kick-off 2.30pm.
