VISITORS to the Dartmoor Railway can enjoy a freshly-cooked fish and chip supper from the comfort of their seats as the train meanders leisurely through the Devon countryside. The popular fish and chip trains will run tomorrow (August 10) and Friday August 24 with an early evening departure from Okehampton Station to Meldon Quarry at approximately 6.30pm. Hauled by the Dartmoor Railway?s recently refurbished Class 08 diesel named ?Blue Bell Mel?, passengers collect their fish and chips at the station buffet before they board the train to Meldon. The meals will be specially packed to keep them hot so they can be eaten either on the train journey, or out in the open by the Meldon Viaduct overlooking the picturesque views across the West Okement Valley. A range of refreshments will also be available at the Meldon buffet coach. Places are limited to 40 seats . In addition, two Sunset Special steam trains will run in August on Saturday 11th with Real Ale and Jazz on board and on Saturday 18th with a curry evening theme. For more information or to book call Okehampton Station on (01837) 55667.
