WE are in desperate need of your help to locate ex-members of our unique unit.
We are a new association started in October 2008 by former dog handlers Eddie Shinton and Mac McClinton of the Army Dog Unit Northern Ireland.
We are searching for any ex-members from 1973 to 2007; so far we have found 220.
Our aims are to put ex members back in touch with old friends, this has been ongoing since day one.
For the ADU NI Association to take part in the Cenotaph march past on Remembrance Sunday, we have now been recognised as an official contingent to take part in the march past in 2009.
To fund a memorial to the handlers and their dogs who died in Northern Ireland working for Army Dog Unit, we have received donations of over £2,200 to date, and our application has been totally successful and written confirmation has been received from the National Memorial Arboretum.
The ceremony will be on August 1, 2009 at 2pm.
A reunion in 2009 for all ex-handlers of ADU NI is also in the process of being organised now.
