KELLY College U15 rounders squad travelled to Clifton College, Bristol, for a tournament that included England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and Millfield School A and B teams.
The first game, against England Development Squad, was lost 10-5. After this shock to the system, the girls realised the games were going to be tough!. Next they played Millfield B and won 7-6. The squad felt good and were ready to play their next game, against the Welsh National team, and this was won 9-8.
The team followed up with another win against Millfield A, this time by 7-3. The final game, against the England first team, was bound to be hard and although the squad played at near to their best, they lost 13-4.
The net result was that the team came third in their group, behind the two England teams.
Gloria Cham was not only the best hitter but also the best fielder, and has been asked to go to England trials.
l Kelly proved too strong for opponents St Joseph?s School in a rounders match played in Launceston - they won 45-2. Toni Fulton hit the ball strongly, scoring nine rounders, while Emma Passmore scored a further eight. Player of the day was Gloria Cham.
