A COUPLE in Okehampton have embraced the Olympic spirit in anticipation of the London 2012 Games, with a themed display in their garden.

Margaret and Ray Vallance have decorated their front garden with a home-made Olympic torch, and recreated the five rings of the Olympic logo.

Margaret said: 'Every year I try to so something in the garden to do with what is going on at the time. I do a display each Christmas too, for the children.

'The atmosphere of the Olympic torch relay through the town was absolutely fantastic.

'It was wonderful to see so many people out and about, and showed a great community spirit, just like the Jubilee celebrations in the park.'
