TROPHIES, Olympians and show jumping have all been on the agenda in Mid-Devon recently. The Mid-Devon Hunt Pony Club were joined by Olympic event rider Mary King at their annual presentations evening at Fingle Bridge Inn. The Devon-based sportswoman entertained club members with tales from her career as well as presenting the awards, which included trophies for achievement, improvement, attendance and turnout. The club reported a successful 2007 with saw a wide programme of rallies, rides and competitions. In August they held a popular camp at the Grange Equestrian Centre, near Northlew. The same month, the club's novice eventing team beat larger teams from across the country to come third at the Pony Club Novice Championship in Cheshire. On Sunday February 17 the club will host its team show jumping competition at the Grange Equestrian Centre. The competition sees teams of four compete, with two members jumping 2ft 3ins and 2ft 6ins courses while the other two jump 2ft 9ins and 3ft courses. In addition, there will be a qualifier class for the national Pony Club Dengie competition, clear- round jumping at various heights and three new mini-jumping classes laid on especially for younger and novice riders. The club welcomes new members of all ability levels.
