Old Boys 4

TOP of the table PGSOB A took the lead after five minutes but the Tavistock midfield of Holland, Cowen, Aveyard and Jeffery took up the challenge.

A flowing move down the right flank was finished off by Cowen to level.

Despite the pressure the home defence held firm and Tavistock deservedly took the lead when Holland forced the ball in after shots from Doney and Jeffery tested the PGSOB's goalie.

But the lead was short lived and continual pressure on the Tavistock backline of keeper Mingo, Bradley, George and Mills was eventually converted with some slick passing by the visitors inside the Tavistock D.

The second half saw PGSOBs get more and more possession and following a short corner Bradley conceded a penalty flick which was put away to give the visitors the lead.

For Tavistock Richards and Daniels worked hard in the half positions and the home team's endeavour eventually paid off with an equaliser from the ever industrious Holland.

However it was PGSOB who scrambled a goal in the dying minutes but this was a vastly improved performance from the Tavistock team.

Truro B 3

Tavistock A 2

A LATE umpire could not delay the start of a great game of hockey. Tavistock A were tested early on, but stout defending kept the sheet clean.

Play was mostly contained in the midfield with the occasional probing attacks goal-ward. Truro opened the scoring when they broke down the right and deflected the ball past a tangled mass of keeper, defender and attacker.

With only two minutes to go until half-time, the ball was passed into Truro's D for the equaliser.

After half-time the opposition got an early goal over a sprawling keeper. More pressure from the home team forced a short corner, from which they scored via a goal side tap in to make it 3-1.

Tavistock had to push upfield and were eventually rewarded with a short corner and a goal.
