Okehampton United Charities (OUC) is handing over management of the town’s three allotment sites to Okehampton Town Council, which is set to take the reins next month.

From September 29, the town council will oversee the town’s three allotment sites after OUC trustees decided to focus on the charity’s grant-giving role and management of other amenity sites, including Ball Hill Woodlands, Tramlines, and its almshouses.

Charity manager, Karen Percival said Okehampton Town Council was the logical choice to manage the sites, as it has a statutory duty to provide allotments and already made a financial contribution to the management and maintenance of the allotment sites along with Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council. All three allotment sites will be within Okehampton Town Council’s boundaries when the boundary changes come into effect in 2027.
