The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust (DMAT) has submitted an application for a temporary Promise School campus for up to five years to bring pupils together on “a single, settled site.”

The application (2212/26/FUL) was submitted on August 7. It seeks to erect temporary buildings on the old Promise School site and construct a canopy over the multi-use games area to provide sheltered outdoor space, which will also function as a school hall.

The development would include three single-storey blocks with interlinked corridors, providing 18 classrooms and required facilities to accommodate up to 90 pupils.

There would be one two-storey building in the centre of the site with the upper floor only accessible to staff.

In February 2026, the original Promise School building was destroyed in a fire and students have since been accommodated across three separate sites – Okehampton College, Okehampton Primary School and St James Primary School.
