THE Rotary Club of Okehampton reluctantly took the decision to postpone the annual May Fair scheduled for yesterday because of forecast bad weather.

The Met Office weather forecast gave strong winds and heavy rain through the core part of the day, which would mean erecting tents and pergolas would have been difficult and keeping them tied down would have been problematic.

This is only the second time in many years that the May Fair has been halted due to poor weather conditions.

It is hoped to be able to stage the May Fair at a later date, probably during May.

This will be publicised as widely as possible once the organisers are able to confirm that Simmons Park is available.

The Rotary club raises funds for many local charities and good causes and would like to thank all those who have so generously given money towards them.
