OKEHAMPTON RFC held it's annual awards evening at Oaklands Park as the club reflected on another highly successful season.

The Chiefs finished in fifth place in their first season back in Western Counties (West) and the seconds finished fourth in Devon Merit table one, again in their maiden season at that level.

The Colts once again reached the semi-finals of the Devon Cup and the third XV achieved promotion to Devon Merit table two in their first season in league rugby.  

Award-winners - First XV: player of the year, Tom McGratton; most improved player, George Trerise; performance, Paul Lawrence; coaches' award, Tom Powell; top try scorer, Robert Fishleigh.

Ewen family award (a new award for the most significant impact in senior rugby from a previous year's Colt), Richard Friend.

Second XV: player of the year, John Stevens; coaches' award, Julian Courtier.

Third XV: player of the year, Paul Alford; coaches' award, Olly Faye.

Colts: player of the year, Darcy Heard; player's player, Andrew Fishleigh; most improved player, Peter Gillard; clubman of the year, Chris Knott.

President's award, Jo Luxton. BJ Barkwell award, Paul Ankcorn.

Ian Langbridge will be the first XV captain again next season with Nicky Martin stepping up as vice-captain. Buzz Brimmacombe will be taking over the second XV captaincy from Simon Griffiths and the Colts will be captained by Peter Gillard.
