AN art project at Okehampton Primary School made to remember the fallen has raised hundreds of pounds for the Royal British Legion.
The Remembrance Day project was the brainchild of teachers Luna Redhead, Jasmine Vallance and Rebecca Ambrose.
Twenty-four children from Years 5 and 6 made 200 clay poppies, which were then painted by the children in Years 3 and 4.
The poppies, which have been on display in the school’s reception, are being sold to raise money for the Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion. Poems on the themes of poppies and war written by Year 3 pupils have been displayed alongside them.
Jasmine Vallance said that the school was very proud to have raised so much money for the organisation.
Poppies are still available for purchase from the school.
