AN OKEHAMPTON man has appeared in court charged with attempting to strangle a woman in Chagford.

Geoffrey Nevett, 45, denied intentionally strangling the victim at an address in Chagford on Saturday, January 21.

Appearing before Exeter magistrates on Monday, January 24, he was told to return to Exeter Magistrates’ Court for trial on June 9.

He was granted bail on condition that he sleeps every night at his home address in St James Street, Okehampton, and does not interfere with witnesses.
