Honiton Hockey Summer tournament

Okehampton Ladies 4

Ottery Crickets Ladies 0

THE first half saw the teams evenly matched with the ball moving swiftly from end to end.

Okehampton attackers Kim Davey and Amanda Sim tested the Ottery defence and both were unlucky with attempts on goal.

Young defender Brieze Reed tackled skilfully and fed some quality balls to her forwards, but it was Oke's goalie Jennie Humphry who kept her side in the game making several critical saves despite being pressurised by the Ottery attack.

The Oke team made some crucial tactical substitutions before half time resulting in captain Jo Moppett breaking the deadlock and scoring for Oke.

Oke used their rolling subs wisely in the second half ensuring that their team players were always sharp and full of running.

Carol Taylor and Sarah Jones shared the central midfield role tackling hard and spreading the ball out wide.

Moppett picked up one of their passes, quickly dodged past the Ottery defender and slipped the ball past the keeper to score goal number two.

The young Oke team then stepped up a gear passing the ball around the pitch, splitting the Ottery players which allowed Kim Davey to break away and net Oke's third goal.

It was Davey who created Oke's final goal using her nifty stick work to penetrate the Ottery defence and pass a perfectly placed ball to Grace Thorp who made no mistake in beating the Ottery keeper.

This convincing win takes Okehampton Ladies through to the semi-final of the tournament.
