Devon U16s final

Okehampton U16s 19

Devonport U16s 32

THe last game of Okehampton U16s season saw them travel to play at Sandy Park (Exeter Chiefs' pitch) to play Devonport in the Devon final — winners of the North Devon league against winners of the South Devon league.

The first half saw Oke put pressure on Devonport and for 20 minutes the play was mainly in Devonports' half but it was the latter who scored the first try and a second came soon after to give the Plymouth side a 10-0 advantage at half-time.

The second half saw Oke continue the pressure and after some good work by their forwards Josh Bickley scored close to the posts for Liam Wilkins to convert to put the score to 7-10; however Devonport widen the gap again with a penalty and then a third try.

Oke forwards again pushed forward and prop Daniel Lee touched the ball down to score. Devonport responded with their fourth try.

From a maul on the Devonport 10 yard line Oke pushed forward with Lamby and Will Copp in the thick of it. Dean Folland picked up the ball to drop down over the line to score Oke's third try which again Liam converted.

Unfortunately through an intercepted pass Devonport scored the last points of the game to give them a 32-19 win.

The Oke forwards were easily equal to the Devonport forwards with Joe Beer having a great game.

This was an excellent team performance, both in this game and throughout the season, and is something everyone involved - players, coaches, parents and club — can be proud of.
