MEMBERS of the Bloodwise Okehampton fundraising group met four intrepid cyclists who had completed the first stage of their mammoth cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats last week.

Michael Evans from Leeds was raising money for Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) in memory of his parents. His mother had died of leukaemia a few years earlier. He and three other riders, also raising money for various charities, had completed the first stage of a gruelling ride in pouring rain and a stiff head wind.

Mary Tomes and Robin Richardson, on behalf of Bloodwise Okehampton fundraising group, met the riders and presented Michael with a cheque for £100.
