Okehampton Ladies Seconds 2 Plymouth University Thirds 0 OKEHAMPTON Ladies 2nd team entertained Plymouth University 3rd team in the Plymouth and District hockey league on Sunday. Captain Abi Colton organised her team well from central midfield, distributing the ball thoughtfully throughout the game. Okehampton dominated the first half putting the Plymouth defence under intense pressure. Okehampton?s strong attacking play was rewarded when centre forward Sarah Jones cleverly scooped the ball past the Plymouth goalie. Player of the match, Sophie Cunnington, soon increased the lead with a powerful and accurate goal. The second half saw the home team having to soak up pressure as Plymouth attacked. Katy Graves and Sarah Tomms tackled strongly to thwart the Plymouth forwards. Star of the second half was Okehampton?s goalkeeper Jo Moppet, who usually plays centre forward in the first team! She showed her versatility as a player by making a number of dynamic saves to keep Oke?s clean sheet. A special mention must go to Natalie Dennis in her debut match for the club.
