THE annual Junior Devon County closed table tennis championships took place at Okehampton Table Tennis Club this weekend. The event saw an excellent number of entries from all over Devon competing in various different catorgories, these included doubles in both girls, boys and mixed, as well as boys and girls events in age ranges under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 18. After a day of talented and skilled play it was great to see that many of the winners were from Okehampton. The winners included Naomi Jackson, who secured an excellent 3-0 win in the U18 girls event against England player Vicky Smith.
In the U13s boys Edward Haskell, aged 11, showed great talent and fought off the competion by winning the final 3-0 to take the winners trophy. Also in the U11 girls Emily Haskell follwed in her brother's footsteps by playing her first competition and finishing as runner up, she was the youngest player in the whole competion and at eight is one of the youngest members to attend Okehampton Table Tennis Club.
