THE Tavonians Theatre Company have twice presented the epic musical show Oh, What a Lovely War! including ten years ago to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the start of the First World War. This year they are planning to repeat it to mark the centenary. The performances will be given in November, including Armistice Day. Following the phenomenal sell-out success of Calendar Girls last November, the director will again be Stuart Waterworth, assisted by Barbara Howland. Auditions will take place on Thursday, June 12 at 7.30pm, in the Guide Hall in Tavistock. Men and women of all ages are required, and in particular younger men are needed in the roles of the soldiers being recruited in the early stages of the war. The show is a company piece, meaning that everyone in it will probably do lots of different things, playing several roles, and there are songs for those who want to sing and songs for those are really can't sing because most of the soldiers, of course, were not singers. Whatever talents anyone can offer, The Tavonians hope to see lots of people at the auditions for this exciting show. If anyone is interested but is not available on June 12, other arrangements for auditions can be made by contacting the director, Stuart Waterworth on 01822 614792 or email [email protected]">[email protected] or the assistant director, Barbara Howland, on 01822 614802.
