Kelly College Girls 1st XI 5
Torquay Girls' Grammar School 1st XI 0
THE Kelly girls travelled to Torquay and enjoyed a sunny day on the English Riviera in every sense. Playing some of their best hockey of the term to date, they ran out winners against a good side.
An early goal was needed to settle the nerves and Cherry Phypers provided it with a crisp strike from a well-worked short corner. From this point, Kelly took control with Rebecca Wallace, as tenacious as ever in midfield, nullifying the opposition's useful centre half.
Angharad Mason had an excellent game at left midfield and her determination helped set up Nora Pott for two excellent individual goals for the score to be 3-0 at half-time.
With Charlotte Steadman and Jo Hollick solid in defence, Kelly's keeper was rarely troubled. A well worked move down the right and a short corner led to Nora scoring two more goals to make it seven for her from two games. While her finishing has been excellent, it is the organisation and hard work of the team that is creating the chances.
