A WIDE range of exciting sports and activities for all ages this half-term has been organised by sport development group OCRA, which has successfully netted grant funding to arrange the programme. Following the findings of the Market and Coastal Town Initiative youth appraisal, OCRA has successfully secured around £6,000 from the Local Network Fund. OCRA?s Stuart Lord said: ?This will help develop extreme activities, sport, art, media, dance and film opportunities in the holidays over the next two years. ?And following the successful launch of the skate and bike event recently, OCRA is also looking to develop the opportunities further this holiday.? One of the new events is a film making workshop for those aged 12 to 20 at Chagford on Tuesday October 25. There will also be a canoe expedition down the tidal stretches of the River Tamar on Wednesday October 26, for 12 to 20-year-olds. Pre-booking is essential for both activities. OCRA is also running outreach sport and art sessions for children aged 6 to 14 in outlying villages. This half-term, the sessions will be at Bridestowe Primary School between 10 am and 12.30pm on Tuesday October 24 and at South Zeal recreation ground between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on the same day. There is no need to pre-book ? sessions cost £2 per person. Other OCRA schemes this holiday are the popular Okehampton Sport and Art Days on Tuesday and Thursday. A basketball camp with a top Devon coach will be held on Thursday, for 9 to 16 year olds and a football camp for 7 to 14 year olds will be held with Plymouth Argyle on the Friday.
