TWO men, on their nine day journey from John O? Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Cornwall dressed as red squirrels, will pass near Okehampton next week. Alex Lethbridge and his friend left on Monday on the intrepid journey while riding the smallest road legal motorcycle, the monkey bike, and dressed as red squirrels. He is raising money for Red Alert, a community based conservation project aiming to insure the long term survival of Great Britain?s native red squirrel in the North of England. The animal has suffered a decline in the last century, resulting in extinctions throughout much of southern England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. Alex decided to help Red Alert with its quest to revive red squirrel populations and ensure their long term survival. On Tuesday, August 15 the men will travel through Whiddon Down on route to Launceston on their way to Land?s End.
