AN Exbourne couple received a gold medal from the Royal Horticultural Society at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Tim and Ruth Penrose, who own award winning nursery, Bowden Hostas in Sticklepath, received their sixth consecutive gold medal last month — the highest possible award at Chelsea. More than 150 mature specimen hostas were on display on the stand which was staffed by Devon folk throughout the week.

Bowden Hostas are open throughout the week for visits and also have two Open Garden weekends with the National Garden Scheme.

The Open Garden weekends will be held on Saturday, June 19, Sunday, June 20, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27.

Hostas are available for purchase all day from 10am until 4pm.
